Ootacumund or Ooty is a lovely hill station with all the essentials, perched at a height of over 2,200 metres in the Nilgiris' "Blue Mountains." Ooty's appealing location amidst lush green hills and year-round temperate temperatures have given it the appropriate title of "Queen of the Hills." Ooty is a rapidly expanding and well-liked vacation resort in southern India because to its charming bungalows and historic structures that reflect the colonial past of the town.

Do not leave from Ooty before:

1.Emerald Lake

Emerald Lake got its name from the reflection of the surrounding green mountains, as suggested by its name. About 25 kilometres from the centre of Ooty, the gorgeous Emerald Lake is a fantastic spot for a picnic.

2. Fernhill Palace

The Fernhill Palace, formerly the Maharaja of Mysore's home, was constructed in 1844 across 50 expansive acres of lush gardens and eucalyptus woodlands. It has been transformed into a heritage hotel while still retaining its past life as a royal residence.

3. Doddabetta Peak

At almost 2.600 metres high, Doddabetta Peak is the tallest mountain in the Nilgiris Hills. It is surrounded by thick stands of rhododendron and eucalyptus trees. 360-degree panoramic views of the pristine surroundings are available from the observatory perched atop the summit.

4.St. Stephen’s Church

St. Stephen's Church was constructed utilising wooden timbers from Tipu Sultan's palace in Mysore and dates back to 1830. The marvels in this Gothic-style building include stained glass windows that show Christ being crucified and a painting of the Last Supper.

Ride A Toy Train

In 2005, UNESCO designated the Nilgiris Mountain Railway as a World Heritage Site. The vistas are breathtaking the entire way, even if there are over 200 uphill turns to negotiate.

Take a Tea Plantation Tour

Ooty's hillsides are a thriving tea region. On the plantations dotted around Ooty, a variety of teas grow, and visiting one of these estates is an eye-opening experience.
